If you are looking for a Princeville hike and you are staying in the Princeville resort area, there is a moderate trail with a trailhead right in Princeville. This article will help you with details on finding the Princeville hike trailhead.
Wyllie Road Trail – There is a hiking trail in the Princeville community near the entrance to the Westin resort. A nice benefit of the trail is the public parking area at the trailhead.
Although the road that leads to the Westin is marked with a “Private road” sign, there is a public parking lot on the right less than a half mile down the road, just before the entrance to the Westin Hotel and Resort.
The lot usually has available parking.
The trailhead is marked with a yellow post. At the beginning, the trail is flat, shaded, and narrow.
The trail continues down a fairly steep .4 miles to a secluded beach. There are a few areas where someone has carved steps into the earth, but most of the walk down is an incline with questionable footing.
The trail is wide and shaded, with a small stream on one side. We also saw a mama and her chicks along the trail.
The beach is dotted with smooth lava rocks and many large trees hang over the beach. At low tide, you can find many crabs and small fish swimming in the crevices and pools.
There is a steep climb on the return trip. Use extra caution if the trail seems wet or if it has been raining. This Princeville hike will give you some cardio on the way back to the parking lot.
Our family enjoyed the hike and exploring the beach at the trail’s end. It is a perfect choice if you are looking for a quick, easy-to-moderate hike on Kauai’s North Shore.
